Thanks Pat!  Your solution worked perfectly.   I clicked on the Install Now button on Adobe - Install a different version of Adobe Flash Player and hit the run button and got to the popup for Adobe Flash Player Installer, but the screen inside the pop-up was blank, just a black background.  After searching through a number of forum responses and all through the internet, your answer was the only one that solved the problem. 

I did both installers as you mention and I am now happily using Adobe Flash with IE and FF.  It was working Chrome before.
