Good info from John, here are a few more links and stuff which might help.

You should already have access to InDesign CC or CS6 with your current plan, you might need to install the Creative Cloud app to install CC and start the install of InDesign CS6 from here: https://creative.adobe.com/products/indesign

select CS6 from the drop-down below "In This Version". An annual membership is generally cheaper than a month to month and you should be able switch yourself using the process described here in the Manage your membership and payments | Creative Cloud

in the Membership & account section.
